Book of the Week: Dark Life, by Kat Falls

Dark Life, Kat Falls
Science fiction

In the not-so-far future, climate change and earthquakes have caused sea levels to rise dramatically, swallowing up most of the land. New York and Los Angeles are long gone, as are the lowlands in the rest of the country. Human beings live on tiny islands of elevated land, in stack cities full of crime and pollution.

But there are also pioneers. Small groups of people have moved to the sea floor to start new lives outside of the crowded topside cities. That’s the world where Ty lives. He’s comfortable on the ocean floor, and he loves to explore by himself, even though it’s against the rules. On one of those trips, he comes across an abandoned submarine full of bloody, ruined equipment – and one survivor, a girl from the Topside named Gemma.

Now, Ty and Gemma are on a mission. What happened to Gemma’s brother? Who’s behind the attacks on the undersea pioneers? And why have Ty – and all the other underwater kids – developed strange new powers? This fast-paced sci-fi adventure will take you to the darkest places under the ocean – and on land – in search of answers.
