First line: One final time I told myself I wasn’t abducting my little brother.

Booktalk: When Laureth’s father goes missing, her mom isn’t concerned. In fact, her exact words are, “I could not possibly care less where your father is.” It’s not a huge surprise. Her dad is a writer, and he has a tendency to wander off while he researches.

But Laureth knows this time is different. This time, even though they live in London and her dad is supposed to be in Switzerland, a man from New York City says that he has her dad’s notebook. The notebook that he always keeps with him. Laureth knows he’s in danger.

So really, what choice does Laureth have? She decides to fly from London to New York to search for him, but there is one big complication: Laureth is blind. So she decides to take her seven-year-old brother Benjamin along to help her find her way around.

That’s how they end up flying across the ocean, in search of the mysterious man who found her father’s notebook. Of course, once they find the notebook, the real adventure begins…
